At Holilto, your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. Every board we craft is designed not only to be beautiful but also safe for daily use with food.
Natural Wood, Treated with Care
-
We select high-quality padauk wood, naturally rich in color and grain.
-
Our wood is treated naturally, without any chemicals, preserving its organic beauty while ensuring it remains food-safe and environmentally friendly.
Ocean-Inspired Resin, Non-Toxic and Safe
-
The flowing waves on each board are created with non-toxic, high-quality epoxy resin.
-
Our resin is: Food contact safe once fully cured
-
While resin provides a stunning visual texture, it is intended primarily for presentation and decorative use.
Protective Finish with Certified Hardwax Oil
To enhance durability and food safety, every board is finished with a plant-based hardwax oil made from tung oil, beeswax, and natural resins.
This finish is certified to meet EN 71-3 European safety standards for food contact, ensuring it is safe for use with dry and cold foods after curing.
-
Deeply nourishes the wood, helping prevent drying or cracking
-
Leaves a smooth, matte protective finish without artificial shine or odor
-
Made from natural ingredients and free from harmful chemicals
We recommend reapplying a food-safe mineral oil regularly to extend the life and beauty of your board.
If food-safe oil is not available, you may gently wipe the wood with a soft cloth dipped in edible oil, such as high-quality olive oil, to help nourish and protect the surface.
Serving vs. Cutting: How to Use Your Board Safely
-
Use your Holilto board for serving dry and cold foods like cheeses, fruits, pastries, and charcuterie.
-
Avoid cutting directly on the resin surface to prevent scratches.
-
If you wish to cut food, flip the board over and cut on the plain wooden back side, placing a towel or damp cloth underneath to prevent slipping.
Cleaning and Care Tips
-
Gently clean the board using a soft cloth and cool water
-
Dry immediately with a towel or stand upright to air dry after cleaning
-
Do not soak, expose to prolonged moisture, or place in a dishwasher
-
Avoid placing hot or oily foods directly onto the resin side
Regular care will maintain your board’s beauty, functionality, and food safety for years to come.
